I use his name in lower case cause he is a low life, think about it though we punish him harsher than we would some murders in the public eye. I 'm not saying what he did was not as bad but, how can you compare a dog to a human life? I know that dogs are the most loyal animal and they can't talk but what if they could we probably wouldn't be as pissed off. This is just another example of a youngster from the ghetto given all the money in the world to play sports and he can't grow up or act mature enough to cut ties with trouble like that. I don't see him ever becoming a professional player again and it is a shame, in most cases he would get a shot with some team but, with this type of crime and the double standard that people have it will not happen. He may be a specticle in the WWE or something ridiculous like that but thats it for him. I can't say he deserves it or he does not, that is why I am posting.

If the league lets him back, I think he will be too old and rusty to play well anyway....

he will have served his time and he deserves to get his job back. that is why, when you go to jail your life sucks enough without all the other stuff.

"This is just another example of a youngster from the ghetto given all the money in the world to play sports and he can't grow up or act mature enough to cut ties with trouble like that."
Now what did you mean by that. what does he being from the ghetto have to do with it. oh and by the way, the area where he grew up isnt a huge ghetto. i would disagree, most of the people who never learn to act mature are the rich kids. he stuck with his friends, too bad they were assholes. yes, killing dogs is wrong, but in most cultures cockfighting is legal. i am not defending what he did, i am just saying he is not the scum of the earth you act like he is.

I guess your right when I say ghetto it may not be the right term but, you don't see many rich kids going to strip clubs and starting gun fights. I also say that he and others like him should have a mentor to help them through the transition of being a kid to being a role model as a profesional athlete. You know as well as I do that all atheletes usually get a break when it comes to punishment from law inforcement as it is.

yeah i know. we were a bit harsh on him, because he was a celebrity in the public eye, hurting animals. that is one love that is stronger than the love of athletes, the love for animals. he wasnt even the killer, he was the guy in the sky signing the checks. and he got the harshest punishment.

i disagree, Mike Vick has gotten a punishment far harsher than he deserves. First off, the man probably cannot do anything but play football, which there is no way he will be able to compete in the NFL after all the time he is serving. He still has to have a hearing in Virginia after he gets off doing his federal time, so hopefully he has saved up. Secondly, by no means am I supporting what he did, but being sent to jail for hosting dog fights is a bit extreme. They are just animals. Ray Lewis took part in killing two men, but because he snitched he got out free and went on to win a Super Bowl. That behavior seems to be fine to everyone too. Too bad there are no groups like PETA for those two men's lives. I have dogs of my own and I love them, but a dog is dog.

True that !
I agree with what you said.
But every one forgets ... The Vice president shot a human, tried to cover it up and all while abusing animals.
He was hunting !!!

dude no, hunting is humane. Hunting quails is legal because there is a food shortage among the quail population, So if we didnt kill them, they could die....get it?

Vick actually got off easy. There were some guys who ran a dogfighting ring back in the neighborhood that i grew up in and they got a much stiffer sentence than vick did.

The charges against vick were more for the gambling and illegal interstate commerce pertaining to a criminal enterprise. The charges weren't for killing/torturing the dogs, the public outcry was.

Yo Big Country ... No I don't get it !
I mean don't get me wrong I don't beleive in abusing animals but I value a human life more. I just don't see the difference between what he did and Billy Joe Bob sitting in a tree and shooting Bambi !
Bambi never had a choice.

He did more than just host dog fights, he killed the weak or had them killed if they didn't meet the standards for a good fighting dog. If you read my thread correctly you would see that I did mention that people do have a hard time seeing the difference between dog's and people. This is turning out to be a good topic to bring back up.

Good work on bringing this topic back up but I did actually see read and comprehend everything you wrote. I disagree with you calling him a low life. First off, I do not think anybody can understand what athletes like Vick come from. There obviously were problems in his neighborhood or house. Just look how his brother turned out. Also I have a friend whose uncle is the head coach of a NFL team and from he says this problem has been known for quite some time just nobody could get Vick to leave his boyhood friends which eventually betrayed him. What he did was wrong but there is no need throw the term lowlife at him. Having somebody cut their roots is hard regardless if they are right or wrong.

I do believe that he will play in the NFL again and even though i am not a fan of his i think it's only right that he gets the chance. He's serving his time.
