if you were startin an NBA team from nothin what kind of players would you pick up first? Would you go for a big bruiser (like a Dwight Howard), a shooter (like a Kobe Bryant), a point guard (like a Chris Paul) or would you go for a defensive player?

If i were to start a team out i would go for a big bruiser! There is nothin better than a big post presense in the middle to block shots and get rebounds and putbacks! with a powerhouse inside people have to pay more attention to him possibly double teaming his leaving others open for shots...and hey if they miss i got him in there to get the rebound and put it in! In my mind there is nothing better than a big post presense for everyone to feed off of!

You really don't need a great PG to win championships. You do need a big man to win a championship, unless you are Jordan.

You need someone to get him the ball. Hence, PG.

You obviously need a PG, but not a Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson or John Stockton type of PG.

Look at the Lakers in the early 00's. They didn't have a superstar PG. However, they did have the most dominant force in basketball in Shaquille O'neal.

Now, look back at the last 10 titles or so, more times than none a big man has lead his team to the title. With the exception of Dwyane Wade and Chauncey Billups.

It goes hand and hand...
Find me a championship that was won by only a big man. You need a guard.

Of course you need a guard. But you don't need a superstar type of guard.

Look at the Lakers in the early 2000's. They had Derek Fisher. He is not a superstar but that's all they needed. Keep in mind, we are talking about PG's .

I would take a point guard every time unless I was getting one of the great dominant centers like Russell or Kareem.
