I'm not trying to be a "monday morning QB" but I have called drafts for as long as I have been watching them. I could give you a list of players I thought should hasve gone higher, but you didnt have to be a genious to understand Carmelo should have been drafted higher than Darko. The GMs draft based on potential, which is a joke. It reminds me alot of Moneyball and Billy Beane saying hed rather draft the guy whos proven himself in college than the player who puts up great physical numbers. Give me the guy who plays the sport, not the guy who jumps high or runs fast

It's easy to say Carmelo should've been drafted higher than Darko now, but at the time...no so much

ya there's gotta be a reason that pretty much everyone agreed that Darko was 2 at that point...

And Carmello at 2? Give me a break...there are 3 or 4 players from that draft better than him. He's a cancer.

This was before the Pistons had Rasheed Wallace, it was really just Clifford Robinson, plus Tayshaun Prince had arrived in the playoffs the year before. That being said.... Chris Bosh was still there.

But you don't even think that the NBA is a sport or that you have to be athletic to play basketball.

I agree Carmello is a cancer, I never said that I could draft with 100% accuracy, but at the time I thought Melo was better than Darko and I was right it was a better pick obviously. I actually went out on a limb back then and said Melo would be almost as good as Lebron, I was wrong abbout that (I would have sytill picked Lebron first) but I would have never picked Darko second. I told my friend the time of the draft that this draft would look alot like the Jordan draft, and I wasnt far off

Well...if the Pistons took Carmello, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have won the NBA championship in 04...so I think no pick at all was better than Carmello there.

I feel the same way abt the NFL, for the most part its not that hard to see busts...Vince Young is a 4th rd or later talent, Reggie Bush was the most overrated college player of all-time. Its just ridiculous...

It seems like alot of USC players have been over drafted, I think the NFL wants to find the next Miami ( a factory which produces all-star caliber NFL Players) This years draft I thought was pretty good but players like Ray Rice I think will be better than Mendenhall, or whats his name the guy wjho broke all DIV II records for RB how does he not get drafted?

The Pistons should have actually drafted Chris Bosh. Not Carmelo Anthony or Darko Milicic.

I do, especially if I was able to have the recources to scout players like GM's do. BTW, Melo is very overrated

actually rafting is harder now than ever before. previously GM's only had to look at seniors at American colleges, mainly Div. 1 at that. Some would get slick and scout div. 2 or 3 colleges also. then they had to start looking at guys w/ less than 4 years of college, than consider guys outside of the county & guys in high school.

Not surprised w/ so little proven info to go on that mistakes are made. especially since maturity or lack of and character has to be considered.

but i think maturity and lack of charachter is a joke. I loved Bradshaw in college, I almost peed myself when the Giants got him 7th rnd I couldnt believe he fell that far. One of the reason was charachter issues. I think all sports look at the Brad Daughtery Draft and put way to much stock intyo character

I agree with you, but aren't you the same one who thinks the NBA shouldn't count as a sport?

y should that bias be carried into this post. Just because I hate the NBA doesnt mean I have no credibility in this post. And you agree with me
