What are RootOffs?

Think you know it all? Want to go head to head against someone else to prove it? Here's your chance. A RootOff is the sports debate at its best. Choose any subject for debate, or join someone else's. Invite someone to yours, or play the field and leave it open for anyone to accept. Each participant is given a specified time period to respond to each round, and it's all capped off with a closing statement. When it's all done, RootZoo votes on the winner. He or she who wins the most votes wears the crown of victory!

Point values

  • Complete all Rounds of a RootOff: +10 points
  • Receive a Vote in a RootOff: +1 point for each vote received
  • Win a RootOff: +25 points
  • Receive a Root/Boo in Your RootOff: +2 / -1 points for each Root/Boo received
  • Vote in a RootOff: +3 points for each RootOff voted in
  • Forfeit a RootOff: -20 points and an automatic loss

Voting

You'll have the ability to vote on the RootOffs of others once all rounds have been completed. There's a 24 hour voting window on each completed RootOff, and during this period, you'll be able to browse all pending RootOffs to decide who put up the best argument. When voting, vote for the participant who presented the more well thought-out argument. Whether or not you agree with them may be another story, but it's all about who presented the better case!

Leaderboards

Climb to the top of the RootOff leaderboard with some wins. Show the Zoo who knows it all. Get started now and you'll be on your way!

Joining a RootOff

You have chosen to join a RootOff. Number of rounds, wagered points, and response timers are specified in the RootOff listing. Be sure you've checked these before accepting the challenge. When each participant has completed all rounds of the RootOff, there will be a 24-hour voting period. Would you like to continue and join?
