	The Ducks acquired Klee and winger Brad Larsen from the Thrashers last Friday in exchange for defenseman Mathieu Schneider, according to the Orange County Register. Klee, entering his 14th NHL season, had a goal and nine assists in 72 games for the Thrashers last season. While the Ducks already have defensive depth, Klee provides the team with seven established players at that position. "My feeling is they wanted me, so they brought me here," Klee said. "As a player that's what you want. You want to be somewhere where they think you can help."

	The Ducks signed Selanne to a two-year, $5.25 million contract Sunday and scored a pair of power-play goals against the Vancouver Canucks in his preseason debut that night. He had been working out with the team for a few weeks while general manager Brian Burke looked for ways to fit him under NHL's $56.7 million salary cap limit. The Ducks were able to free up $3.84 million in a trade that sent defenseman Mathieu Schneider to Atlanta on Friday. The 10-time NHL All-Star is the club's career leader in seven categories, including goals (325), points (689), and game-winning goals (54). Selanne sat out training camp last season and the first four months of the regular season while contemplating retirement after the Ducks won the 2007 Stanley Cup, but he signed with the team in February and had 12 goals and and 11 assists in 26 games.

	Schneider cleared waivers Wednesday and remained on the Ducks' roster. The 39-year-old NHL veteran wasn't claimed by another team after being placed on waivers a day earlier. He had 12 goals and 27 assists in 65 games for the Ducks last season. Schneider appeared in all six playoff games, with one goal. He had a plus-or-even rating in 32 consecutive games from Dec. 18-March 5, the longest streak in the league last season.

If he isn't, Schneider will clear waivers and remain property of the Ducks. Schneider had 12 goals and 27 assists in 65 games for the Ducks last season. He appeared in all six playoff games, with one goal. He had a plus-or-even rating in 32 consecutive games (plus-17) from Dec. 18-March 5, the longest streak in the league last season. He signed a two-year, $11.25 million contract in July 2007, before the Ducks knew for sure that Scott Niedermayer was going to return. Schneider has played for seven teams during his 20-year NHL career.

	Morrison, who has had 50-plus points in six of the past seven NHL seasons, signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. The 32-year-old Morrison played in 542 consecutive games for Vancouver from 2000-07 before wrist and knee injuries limited him to 39 games with the Canucks last season. The 5-foot-11, 181-pound Morrison has appeared in 674 games, with 159 goals and 315 assists. He was among the Canucks' top four scorers five of the past seven seasons. He had nine goals and 16 assists during his injury-abbreviated 2007-08 season.

	The New York Islanders agreed to terms Wednesday with veteran forward Doug Weight on a one-year deal worth $1.75 million plus incentives. The 37-year-old Weight had 10 goals and 15 assists in 67 games with St. Louis and Anaheim last season. The center is a four-time All-Star who was a member of the Carolina Hurricanes' team that captured the Stanley Cup in 2006. He has 265 NHL goals and 969 points in 1,131 career games over 16 seasons.

	The Ducks signed Perry, their leading goal scorer last season, to a five-year, $26.6 million deal Tuesday. Despite missing part of the season because of a leg injury, the 23-year-old Perry established several career highs, including scoring 29 goals. His 54 points were second on the Ducks, and he tied for second with four game-winning goals. Perry had two goals and one assist in three playoff games.

	Niedermayer has ruled out retirement and will play another season with the Anaheim Ducks. Team spokesman Alex Gilchrist says the star defenseman will play out the final year of his four-year, $6.75 million contract. Last season, the 34-year-old Niedermayer didn't return until December after the team won the Stanley Cup in June. Niedermayer has spent 16 years in the NHL. He won the Norris Trophy in 2004 and the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2007.

	Niedermayer is ready to announce whether he'll play one more season, and this time the Anaheim Ducks hope the star defenseman sticks with his decision one way or the other. Niedermayer's agent, Kevin Epp, on Wednesday, said his client plans to inform the Ducks whether he'll come back prior to the NHL Draft in Ottawa on Friday. That way, Epp said, the team can better plan its offseason strategy, especially when the free-agency period opens July 1. The Ducks hope Niedermayer elects to return to play the final season of his contract. What they don't want is a repeat of last year, when Niedermayer informed the team in July that he wasn't returning and then changed his mind two months into the season. Last season, he finished third among Ducks defensemen with 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 48 games.

	Carter, who appeared in 34 games for Anaheim as a rookie this past season, signed a three-year contract with the Ducks. The 24-year-old Carter had four goals and four assists, with 36 penalty minutes. He scored his first NHL goals on Feb. 8 against New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur, with his goals less than 8 minutes apart leading Anaheim to a 2-1 win. The Ducks originally signed Carter as a free agent out of Minnesota State University in the summer of 2006. Terms of his new contract were not disclosed Tuesday.

	Niedermayer missed Game 3 of the Ducks' playoff series Tuesday night against the Dallas Stars because of an apparent concussion sustained earlier in the series. Niedermayer didn't travel to Dallas, and instead remained home after complaining of concussion-like symptoms. They were the apparent result of a hit he took in the third period of the Ducks' 5-2 loss Saturday night. It wasn't clear if Niedermayer would join the team for Game 4 on Thursday night, or his status for the remainder of the series. Game 5, if necessary, is Friday night in Anaheim.
