	Wright is still sidelined while recovering from knee surgery that ended his 2007-08 season in early March. Wright will likely miss all of preseason and perhaps the start of the regular season before returning. He was a viable fantasy option for the shallow Heat before suffering the injury last season, but he figures to see a significant decline in production with Shawn Marion, James Jones and Yakhouba Diawara all competing for playing time at the small forward position.

	The Warriors suspended Ellis for 30 games without pay Saturday for violating his lucrative new contract by getting into a mo-ped accident. Ellis, who agreed to a six-year deal worth $66 million in July, severely sprained his ankle in a low-speed crash in late August. The suspension will cost the guard slightly less than $3 million. The Warriors counted four preseason games in the suspension's length, which means Ellis can't return to the club until after Golden State's 26th regular-season game, against Indiana on Dec. 17. Ellis was unlikely to return before then anyway because of the injury.

	The 76ers picked up the third-year option on Smith's contract Monday. Smith, a 7-foot center, averaged 4.5 points in 76 games last season. He's expected to miss most - if not all - of this season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL.

	The 76ers picked up the third-year option on Young's contract Monday. Young, the 12th overall pick in the 2007 draft, averaged 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 74 games last season.

	Haywood is scheduled for surgery to repair torn ligaments in his injured right wrist next week. Haywood injured his wrist during training camp, and it's estimated he will miss 4-to-6 months. Haywood, a center whose 10.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game last season were career highs, will be replaced by Etan Thomas, who sat out last season after heart surgery, fourth-year player Andray Blatche and first-round draft choice JaVale McGee.

	White will be out four to six months after undergoing surgery on his jaw next week. Team physicians will remove a benign growth from White's jaw, then take a bone graft from his hip to mend the jaw bone, team officials said Thursday. The 6-foot-9 rookie was the 29th overall pick by the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft. The Thunder acquired White as a part of a draft day trade.

	Magliore will miss at least six weeks with a broken left hand, and could be sidelined even longer if surgery is required to repair the fracture. Magliore was injured in Miami's preseason overtime loss against New Jersey in Paris on Thursday. He returned to South Florida after the game, while the Heat remained behind for a rematch with the Nets on Sunday in London. Magliore's fracture was reset without surgery, which would minimize his recovery time. If the procedure, called a closed reduction, doesn't work, surgery to insert screws remains an option and would be a more significant setback for Magliore.

	Anthony won't play in the Denver Nuggets' preseason opener against Minnesota on Friday night after bruising his left ring finger. Anthony injured the finger when he had the ball slapped out of his hand during practice Thursday. He had the hand wrapped up Friday at practice, but X-rays were negative.

	Foster signed a contract extension with the Indiana Pacers on Friday. Foster says he wants to finish his career with the Pacers. The 6-foot-11 Foster was a first-round pick by Golden State in 1999 and came to Indiana in a trade following the draft. He has spent his entire 10-year career with the Pacers.

	Williams has been traded by the Pacers to Dallas for future draft picks, cash and possibly another player, his agent said Friday. Dogged by three incidents involving police in the past 13 months, Williams will be reunited with new Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle, who coached the Pacers when Indiana drafted him out of Memphis in the first round in 2006. Williams started only six games in two seasons with Indiana, averaging 5.6 points and 2.3 rebounds.

	Anthony is questionable for the Denver Nuggets' preseason opener against Minnesota after bruising his left ring finger. Anthony injured the finger when he had the ball slapped out of his hand during practice Thursday. He had the hand wrapped up Friday at practice, but X-rays were negative. The 24-year-old averaged 25.7 points a game last season and a career-high 7.4 rebounds. He helped lead Team USA to a gold medal in the Beijing Olympics over the summer. The Nuggets play the Timberwolves Friday night.

	Rose, last spring's No. 1 draft pick, played nearly 27 minutes and scored 10 points in Chicago's preseason opener Thursday night, a 110-102 loss to Dallas. Rose had a slow start in his NBA debut. The former Memphis guard missed his first four field goal attempts before scoring on a right-handed layup with 6:45 left in the second quarter.

	Webster fractured a bone in his left foot Tuesday night in a preseason victory over the Sacramento Kings. The Trail Blazers said Webster will be evaluated to determine the best course of treatment. A timetable for his return was not set. X-rays taken after the game showed the stress fracture of his fifth metatarsal and further testing confirmed the injury, which was not apparent during the game.
