College Football Ranking

Every year sports teams are ranked by their wins and losses, and this year the ranking for college football is no different.

Newspapers and sports stations alike do these college football rankings and while they vary to some degree, the top teams are changed little throughout the lists by different media outlets.

There are many different newspapers and television sports channels and while many rank them with similar background information they each differ somewhat. For an example the New York Times uses these stats to do their ranking: margin of victory, strength of schedule and recent performance. While at the same time the Massey Ratings uses: overall team rating, offense and defense, strength of schedule, and lastly they calculate in the home field advantage to arrive at the rankings of each of the college football teams. Then there is another example of the different statistics that are used with the Dunkel Index; in this strength-of-schedule is used along with win and loss record and the upset factor.
