Who's Hot, Who's Not
Here is a look at fantasy week 3's hottest and coldest players. I didn’t include players who are now injured or were injured last week like Jimmy Rollins or Chipper Jones.
Who’s Hot
David Wright - 3B New York Mets

Past 7 games: 11 hits, 2 homers, 1 triple, 5 doubles, 10 RBI, 5 runs, 6 walks, 1 strikeout
Forecast: Wright is doing his best to rid himself of being labeled a slow-starter. Many thought this would be his maturation year and so far it’s hard to argue that it isn’t. There is not much to say about Wright, but little you don't already know. He isn't flashy he's just incredible. Expect domination going forward from the future Hall of Famer.
Conor Jackson - 1B Arizona Diamondbacks

Past 7 games: 9 hits, 3 homers, 2 triples, 1, double, 10 RBI, 8 runs, 2 walks, 1 stolen base, 1 strikeout
Forecast: Jackson is starting to show the power that many felt would come, but not this soon. He’s still young, but is taking a much more aggressive approach at the plate this year and so far it is paying off. His upcoming 7 games are all decent matchups so expect the solid numbers to continue. He’s also pretty unselfish, foregoing the cycle by taking a second triple last week as well (bummer for leagues that bonus the cycle).
Manny Ramirez - OF Boston Red Sox

Past 7 games: 12 hits, 4 homers, 1 double, 9 RBI, 9 runs, 5 walks, 6 strikeouts.
Forecast: It certainly helped that Manny got to face Mike Mussina, who served up two spicy meatballs. It also helps that Manny is playing for a contract this year. Nothing he does should surprise you, he’s one of the best right handed hitters of all time and is a sure-fire Hall of Famer. Look for Manny’s good fortune to continue this week, it really doesn’t matter what pitchers he faces, but he’ll have 4 games at Fenway.
Miguel Cabrera - 3B Detroit Tigers

Past 7 games: 12 hits, 2 homers, 3 doubles, 10 RBI, 7 runs, 1 stolen base, 4 strikeouts.
Forecast: Those who were worried about Cabrera’s “cold start” got a taste of what the amazing hitter can do. Three things can be attributed to his slow start: facing American League pitchers for the first time in his career (interleague and World Series aside); the cold weather in Detroit and across the country and the leg issue he had in the beginning of the year. Expect solid numbers from here out.
Cliff Lee - SP Cleveland Indians

Past 3 games: 3-0, 22.2 innings, 8 hits, 1 ER, 2 walks, 20 Ks.
Forecast: Cliff Lee has been absolutely outstanding so far this season. He is looking like the pitcher in 2005 that won 18 games. His control has been on point and his 0.40 ERA and 0.44 WHIP are ridiculous. He’ll face Kansas City on 4/24 making him a must start in all leagues. If you were fortunate enough to pick him up off your waiver wire, or even draft him in bigger leagues you are looking like a genius right now.
The Rest of the Best:
Hitters: Jose Reyes, Skip Schumaker, Mark DeRosa, Jacoby Ellsbury, Josh Willingham, Dustin Pedroia, Carl Crawford, Nick Markakis, Josh Hamilton, Magglio Ordonez, Garrett Atkins, Rafael Furcal, Hank Blalock, Derrek Lee, Nate McLouth, Edgar Renteria, Kevin Youkilis, Alex Rios, Matt Holliday, Frank Catalanotto, Joey Votto, B.J. Upton, Chase Utley.
Pitchers: Tim Lincecum, Javier Vazquez, Ervin Santana, Tim Redding, John Danks, Aaron Cook, Zack Greinke, Felix Hernandez, John Smoltz, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Billy Wagner, Eric Gagne, Francisco Rodriguez, Brian Wilson, Johan Santana, Brett Myers,
Who’s Not
Ryan Howard - 1B Philadelphia Phillies

Past 7 games: .120 BA, 3 hits, 2 homers, 9 strikeouts.
Forecast: Despite the 2 homers, Howards’ past week was a misery. Beyond everything he just looks lost at the plate, getting behind in counts and not being able to work himself out of it. Let’s not forget that he was the MVP in 2006 and hit 47 homers last year while getting off to a cold start as well. His strikeouts aren’t going to decline, but his power numbers will definitely improve and he should be able to get his batting average to at least .265 (but hopefully higher). He’ll have 2 games in Coors this coming week which could maybe jumpstart his power stroke. Don’t panic yet.
Brandon Phillips - 2B Cincinnati Reds

Past 7 games: .240 BA, 6 hits, 0 RBI, 3 runs scored, 6 strikeouts.
Forecast: Phillips was even sat a game to try and give him a breather to figure things out. "You see him swinging at bad pitches and taking good ones. He does not trust himself right now,” Dusty Baker said. He has been OK up until last week, so there shouldn’t be any need for fantasy owners to get worried. Continue starting him in all leagues as he has proven to be too good to stay cold for too long.
Orlando Hudson - 2B Arizona Diamondbacks

Past 7 games: .185 BA, 5 hits, 4 RBI, 2 runs, 5 strikeouts.
Forecast: O-Dog is a great second base option in all leagues so don’t look at this as anything less than just being in a little funk. He’s a career .277 hitter so you know he’ll get his hitting back soon. He has a favorable upcoming 7 games, although it’s possible he could sit against Barry Zito on 4/22.
C.C. Sabathia - SP Cleveland Indians

Past 4 games: 0-3, 18 innings, 32 hits, 27 ER, 14 walks, 14 Ks.
Forecast: Sabathia just hasn’t been able to command his pitches so far this year. His velocity seems to be fine, it’s just his location. He’s falling behind on batters and then when he gets ahead of them, he hasn’t been able to put them away. Still, he’s the reigning Cy Young award winner so you can’t expect this sort of slump to continue for too much longer. He is a free-agent to be so perhaps the pressure of pitching for a contract is getting to him… As far as what to do with him, hang on. Don’t sell low. Sometimes it takes just 1 good outing to get the rhythm back. Until then you may want to stick him on your bench.
Rafael Soriano - RP Atlanta Braves

Past 7 games: Disabled List
Forecast: Soriano is off the 15-day DL on Tuesday, but the Braves won't use him right away. He will begin throwing off a mound when he's throwing without pain, which isn't now. The team is hoping he will start throwing somepoint during the week of April 21-27. Keep him sidelined and pick up Manny Acosta if you still can.
The Rest of the Worst:
Hitters: Mark Teahen, Brad Hawpe, Adrian Gonzalez, Dan Uggla, Rick Ankiel, James Loney, Aubrey Huff, Hunter Pence, Julio Lugo, Jason Kubel, Frank Thomas, Akinori Iwamura, Todd Helton, Ryan Braun, Khalil Greene, Carlos Delgado, Jeremy Hermida, Angel Pagan,
Pitchers: Matt Cain, Carlos Villanueva, Jeremy Accardo, Bronson Arroyo, Dave Eveland, Phil Hughes, Boof Bonser, Mike Mussina, Clay Buchholz, Jarrod Washburn, Tim Hudson, Jose Valverde, Takashi Saito, Justin Verlander,

This is cool, I thought Jason Kendall deserved a rest of the best mentioned but then I remembered this is fantasy baseball. Kendall has a great average, but that's it.

It figures Jose Reyes would get hot when I put him on the bench (I thought he was injured)
